Ice cream is believed to be of Chienese origin. It can be tracked back to the 4th century B.C. It made its way from China to Europe where its recipes evolved as it was served in the fashionable French and Italian royal courts.

The dessert was then imported to the USA. The name "ice cream", first used by American colonists, originated from the phrase "iced cream" with the first American ice cream parlor to open its doors in New York City back in 1776.

The great advancements made in refrigeration technologies allowed for ice cream to become a popular treat enjoyed by the public.

Ice cream novelties such as ice cream on sticks and ice cream bars were introduced in the 1920's.

Vanilla is the preferred flavour by almost 30% of ice cream consumers worldwide.

Children ages two through 12, and adults age 45 plus, eat the most ice cream per person.
